The NIAMS is dedicated to improving the lives of those affected by bone, joint, muscle, and skin diseases by communicating timely and relevant research advances. This involves disseminating information to interested communities, media, the biomedical community, and health organizations using various accessible formats. NIAMS information specialists provide real-time responses via phone and email, and the institute creates materials for patients, caregivers (in multiple languages, including the "Living With" series), media, community partners, and policymakers through its Newsroom. The institute also engages with stakeholders through advisory groups, public meetings, and collaborations with voluntary and professional health organizations. NIAMS uses its Community Outreach Initiative to reach diverse populations, creating social media toolkits and materials for healthcare providers and community organizers. Looking ahead, NIAMS will continue to communicate scientific advancements and explore new ways to engage with patient communities to strengthen studies.
