The ECHO Program has two major components, the ECHO Cohort Consortium — for observational research, and the ECHO IDeA States Pediatric Clinical Trials Network (ISPCTN) — for intervention research. NIH has established the essential components of the ECHO Program to support research that focuses on five pediatric health outcome areas:
- Pre-, peri-, and postnatal
- Upper and lower airway
- Obesity
- Neurodevelopment
- Positive Health
ECHO Cohort Study Sites
Intends to increase the number of child and adolescent participants from diverse racial, geographic, and socioeconomic backgrounds in the ECHO Cohort to more than 60,000 by May 2030.
ECHO Coordinating Center
Provides comprehensive operational leadership and an organizational infrastructure to manage and coordinate all ECHO Cohort Consortium activities.
ECHO Data Analysis Center
Responsible for managing all existing and new data from ECHO Cohort Study Sites.
ECHO Laboratory Core
Provides leadership, project management, and infrastructure for all activities related to ECHO Cohort biospecimens and data generated from biospecimen assays.
ECHO Measurement Core
Develops and refines measures for the ECHO Cohort Data and Biospecimen Collection Protocol
Clinical Sites for the ECHO IDeA States Pediatric Clinical Trials Network
Provides access to state-of-the-art clinical trials for rural or underserved children living in IDeA states.
Data Coordinating and Operations Center for the IDeA States Pediatric Clinical Trials Network
Provides data coordination, technical instruction, data standards, quality control and assurance and operational coordination for IDeA States pediatric clinical trials.
