2026 BRAIN Initiative Conference

August 11-13, 2026

The 2026 BRAIN Initiative® Conference convenes grant awardees, staff, leadership from the BRAIN Initiative’s federal and non-federal partners, and anyone interested in neuroscience and BRAIN Initiative-funded research. Conference participants discuss the latest scientific developments and exciting research priorities for technology-driven innovation in neuroscience. It provides a forum for collaboration, discussion, and coordination across the BRAIN Initiative community. This in-person conference is free and open to the public.

The BRAIN Multi-Council Working Group, which works to ensure a coordinated and focused effort on BRAIN across NIH, will hold a virtual meeting on Wednesday, August 19, 2026.

The MCWG provides ongoing oversight of the long-term scientific vision of the BRAIN Initiative and offers an assessment of the progress of current BRAIN projects and programs.

Neuroethics Working Group

The NEWG is a group of experts in neuroethics and neuroscience that serves to provide the NIH BRAIN Initiative with input relating to neuroethics. 

Past Events

From January 13-15, 2026, the Brain Cell Atlas: From Data to Knowledge Workshop brought together researchers and data scientists to address the challenges and opportunities in the analyses and integration of the brain cell atlas data by leveraging recent artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) advancements.

The BRAIN NeuroAI Workshop will bring together researchers across career levels and diverse fields to explore how the BRAIN Initiative’s data, tools, and technologies can reciprocally advance the emerging science at the intersection of neuroscience and AI.
