Looking Forward

NIH continues to make significant progress in addressing Alzheimer’s and related dementias, thanks to sustained investments over the past several years. The achievements made in 2023 build on earlier advances and help sustain momentum in NIH’s efforts to prevent and treat dementia and enhance care for those living with the disease and their care partners. NIH continues to be profoundly grateful to all the researchers, study participants, care partners, and others whose hard work and dedication made these discoveries possible.

The accomplishments described here provide an expanding base of knowledge that will be the foundation for future research. NIH will continue to explore new opportunities to advance dementia research and bring us closer to living in a world where Alzheimer’s and related dementias do not take the enormous tolls that they take today.
