Thank you for registering for the Fueling our Potential to Flourish in the Biomedical Research Environment Skills Group. You will receive an email from the OITE Well-Being center with more information as we approach the start date.
About this skills group:
Flourishing is defined as an optimal state of mental, emotional, and social well-being in key domains of life including work and the pursuit of career goals. Dr. Martin Seligman, a psychologist and director of the Positive Psychology Center at the University of Pennsylvania, has researched a theory of well-being that includes five key elements that are considered the building blocks to flourishing- Positive emotion, Engagement, Relationships, Meaning and Mattering, and Accomplishment (PERMA). Evidence shows that these elements are associated with better work performance, lower levels of burnout, and better coping abilities AND can be cultivated with learned strategies. In this two-week group, trainees will learn PERMA strategies to help build and maintain their ability to flourish in the biomedical research environment.
