Membrane and Organelle Dynamics Interest Group

The goal of the Membrane and Organelle Dynamics Interest Group (formerly known as Protein Trafficking and Organelle Dynamics) is to promote interaction between Institutes and laboratories studying topics related to cell biology, with emphasis on membrane-related processes and organelle dynamics. Current areas of research interest include, but are not limited to, protein biogenesis and quality control, protein translocation across membranes, protein transport between organelles, membrane/lipid dynamics, endocytosis and exocytosis, organelle biogenesis and turnover, dynamics and function of membraneless organelles, membrane contact sites, autophagy, pathogen membrane interaction, cytoskeleton dynamics, and membrane fusion.

The interest Group organizes monthly meetings featuring presentations by senior fellows or PIs on well-developed research projects on campus. The interest group also frequently invites well-established scientists in related fields to discuss their new exciting findings.
