etectRx is a leading digital health sensor platform company offering a unique combination of intelligent software, services, and wireless sensor technology through its eBurst platform. This technology supports remote monitoring of multiple health conditions, enhancing patient engagement and health care outcomes across stakeholders, including patients, providers, and payers, by promoting accountability and awareness.
Nonadherence to medication therapy results in significant morbidity and mortality across the world. In the United States, medication nonadherence results in $528 billion in annual health care costs to manage consequences associated with nonadherence, including progression of chronic disease. Additionally, approximately 50 percent of the 835,000 people are in assisted living facilities have some form of dementia or cognitive impairment. The average cost of assisted living facilities is $4,050 per month per person, with memory care increasing this cost by an average of $1,250 per month. Advances in medications such as donepezil, galantamine, and rivastigmine have been shown to help manage and even reverse some dementia symptoms, but these medications are not effective unless they are taken on a regular basis. Slowing the progression of dementia can prolong people’s ability to live independently.
The ID-Cap System is designed to address both of these concerns by providing adherence-monitoring solutions that are optimized for the population needing assistance. Improving adherence reduces the cost of health care for all and enables patients to remain at home longer. The system’s success has also allowed etectRx to branch out into complementary markets that include incontinence care.
The ID-Cap System is the world’s only radio frequency-based ingestion event monitoring system. It provides confirmed ingestion of medications instead of intent to take. Notifications and reminders from the ID-Cap System have been shown to improve adherence, and the system has been well-received in real-world studies.
