  • At least one study that applies existing and novel surveillance methods to assess long-term trends in AD/ADRD prevalence, incidence, diagnosis, treatment, and outcomes in diverse populations.

Summary of Key Accomplishments

Several NIH-funded studies are examining the prevalence/incidence of AD-type dementia or individual ADRDs in diverse populations. For example, the NINDS-funded VCID and Stroke in a Bi-racial National Cohort (aka REGARDS) is a population-based study that follows more than 6000 participants aged 75+ and is collecting data on racial and geographic disparities in dementia and stroke as well as their associated risk factors.

The key accomplishments summary is current as of July 2022.
