Webinar Description

This presentation highlighted Dr. Bei Wu’s pioneering interdisciplinary research on oral health disparities among older adults. Drawing on large, nationally representative datasets and systematic reviews, Dr. Wu examined the complex relationship between oral health and cognitive decline, particularly dementia, across diverse racial and ethnic groups. Integrating perspectives from public health, geriatrics, and cognitive science, Dr. Wu delved into how oral health and dementia are interrelated in these populations. Additionally, she presented findings from a clinical trial that applies a multidisciplinary approach to enhance oral health outcomes for older adults with cognitive impairments. The presentation concluded with evidence-based policy recommendations aimed at reducing oral health disparities and promoting interdisciplinary collaboration in aging and public health research.
