Purpose and Background

The purpose of the NIA Data LINKAGE Program (LINKAGE) is to link NIA-funded study data with existing datasets from Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and other sources and establish a cloud-based environment to support data accessibility and sharing. In providing these resources free of charge, LINKAGE aims to reduce resource cost and time barriers and promote access for researchers.

This webinar features the Understanding Cohort Effects on Stroke, VCID, and Cognition After Major Epidemiologic Transitions (Formerly: The REasons for Geographic And Racial Difference in Stroke (REGARDS) study linked with CMS data. The REGARDS team will present an overview of their study and the CMS data they offer to researchers. Examples of linked data will be presented along with information on how to access REGARDS-CMS linked data. Additionally, use case examples of using REGARDS-CMS linked data will be provided to highlight the research that can be accomplished through linked CMS data.
