Register Today for the 2026 Dementia Care & Caregiving Summit!

We are happy to announce that registration for the 2026 Dementia Care & Caregiving Research Summit, taking place virtually from March 17-19, 2026, is now open! To attend any or all three days of the Summit proceedings, the Early Career Investigator Event, or the Post-Summit Listening Session, please register below:

This Care Summit provides the opportunity to review progress made since the 2017 , 2020 , and 2023 Dementia Care and Caregiving Research Summits, highlight innovative and promising research, and identify unmet research needs. The topics and themes within the Care Summit sessions have been informed by members of the scientific Steering Committee and public input by individuals living with dementia, caregivers, researchers, direct care workers, and leaders of advocacy groups during the Pre-Care Summit Listening Session. After the Summit, members of the Steering Committee will finalize a list of new research gaps and opportunities based on the current state of the science, that will be used to inform NIH Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (AD/ADRD) research implementation milestones .

Session and speaker information now available!

The Care Summit website offers detailed information on the planned sessions and confirmed speakers. The agenda includes five scientific sessions focused on the following topics:

  • Session 1: Economic Impacts of Dementia: Focus on Dementia Care & Caregiving
  • Session 2: The Role of Community in Dementia Care Research
  • Session 3: Rigorous Dementia Care & Caregiving Intervention Development and Next Steps
  • Session 4: Advances in AD/ADRD Data Infrastructure to Support Dementia Care & Caregiving Research
  • Session 5: Dementia Care Coordination Models and Strategies Across Systems and States

We look forward to your attendance and participation!

In addition to the scientific sessions, we will be hosting an Early Career Investigator Event on March 19, 2026, to provide an overview of dementia care and caregiving research, available training opportunities and resources for early career to midcareer investigators, and data resources that investigators can leverage. This event will include a moderated Q&A.

At the conclusion of the Care Summit, NIA will host a listening session on March 19, 2026, to hear input from participants on the presentations and the research gaps and opportunities. We particularly encourage those living with cognitive symptoms or dementia and care partners to join. However you choose to participate, we look forward to connecting in March!
