NIA will again collaborate with the AGS Research Committee to present symposia for early- and mid-career researchers as well as for more seasoned investigators. These include:

• NIA Symposium for Researchers at Mid-Career and Beyond — Opportunities for Established Researchers
  Thursday, May 4, 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. PT
  This session is intended for researchers at a mid- to senior-career level. A number of my NIA colleagues and I will provide updates on the current NIA budget and new programmatic and funding opportunities, including those related to Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias research, as well as NIA’s future scientific priorities.
  
• Ensuring Equity in Your Research: Breaking Down the Whys and Hows for Early-Career Investigators
  Thursday, May 4, 1:30-2:30 p.m. PT
  This session will address the importance of integrating equity into aging research and tips on how best to do so, along with related funding opportunities.
  
• The ABCs of NIA Grantsmanship — For Early Career Researchers and Their Mentors
  Thursday, May 4, 2:45-3:45 p.m. PT
  I’ll moderate this session, which will feature NIA staff presenting overviews of our extramural research programs and initiatives, including funding and training opportunities. We’ll also discuss the NIH Center for Scientific Review grant application review process.
  
• Becoming a Multiple Chronic Conditions (MCCs) Research Champion
  Friday, May 5, 7–8:30 a.m. PT
  This interactive workshop will train mid- to senior-level faculty to use the MCC Research Champion Toolkit to encourage MCC research that will translate into the delivery of higher-quality care across the lifespan.
  
• Medical and Surgical Specialties Section Meeting
  Saturday, May 6, 7-8:30 a.m. PT
  A multidisciplinary panel will discuss how to build an aging-focused research network in a specialty. All medical and surgical subspecialists, including geriatricians, are encouraged to attend.
  
• AGS/AFAR Clin-STAR Mentoring and Grantsmanship Workshop
  Saturday, May 6, 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m. PT
  This workshop will offer insights from senior investigators on working with mentors, building networks, and grantsmanship. The session is geared toward early-career investigators but is open to all.
