Recruiting and Retaining Dyads of Hospitalized Persons with Dementia and Family Caregivers 

This article describes the challenges of clinical trial recruitment and retention of acutely ill, hospitalized older adults with dementia. Researchers tested the efficacy of a nurse-family partnership to improve the experience of people with dementia and their caregivers. Results show that successful strategies to address challenges include preparation with the hospital site, communication with hospital team members, and honoring communication preferences.
