Public and Participant Involvement as a Pathway to Inclusive Dementia Research

This paper summarizes the evidence that supports recommendations for how to best apply public and participant involvement in dementia studies. The authors state that ideal partnerships involve acknowledgement by researchers of the context of research, including ideas such as ageism and the stigma of dementia. The article also recommends that partnerships begin as early as possible in the research process and include shared decision making.
