This special emphasis panel reviews training and career development applications related to the function, physiology and pathophysiology of the digestive system, including digestive diseases and inflammatory conditions, mucosal immunology and host-pathogen interactions in the context of digestive disease, the microbiome, GI motility, brain-gut interactions, nutrition including nutrient adsorption and metabolism, the exocrine pancreas and pancreatic disease, liver and hepatobiliary physiology and pathophysiology.
