Study Partners’ Views on Remuneration in Longitudinal Alzheimer’s Disease Research

This article describes how dementia study partners view financial compensation – or “renumeration” – for their involvement. Survey results revealed that most held neutral to positive views on remuneration, with Black study partners expressing more favorable views than White study partners. The findings suggest that offering remuneration is broadly acceptable and may be a practical tool for improving recruitment and retention, particularly among historically underrepresented groups, while noting that altruism remained a universal motivator across all participants.
