Create opportunities and avenues for closer interaction between researchers developing new INDs and researchers supported through NIA's enabling infrastructure programs involved in developing data resources, translational tools and new mechanistic insights about the complex biology of the disease.
2028 4.X In Progress DN 2021 AD Summit: 4.I Translational Tools, Infrastructure, and Capabilities 2024
- Establish an annual meeting that brings together research teams developing new clinical drug candidates for AD/ADRD treatment and prevention with research teams developing data resources, translational tools and new mechanistic insights about the complex biology of the disease.
Summary of Key Accomplishments
In June 2024, NIA and the Alzheimer’s Association held the 7th Annual symposium entitled “Enabling Precision Medicine for Alzheimer’s Disease Through Open Science.” The symposium featured NIA-supported translational research programs that employ precision medicine principles and open-science practices that support discovery across the research spectrum, from basic biology through model development, target and biomarker identification, and drug discovery and development.
The key accomplishments summary is current as of September 2025.
