The Alzheimer's and related Dementias Education and Referral Center (ADEAR) provides evidence-based information to people living with Alzheimer’s and related dementias and their families, health care professionals, and the general public. Established by law in 1990, the center was originally named the ”Alzheimer's Disease Education and Referral Center.” It was renamed in 2016 to reflect an expanded focus.
ADEAR is a service of NIA, which is part of the National Institutes of Health , U.S. Department of Health and Human Services . NIA conducts and supports research on aging and the health and well-being of older adults and is the primary federal agency for Alzheimer's and related dementias research. As a U.S. government-funded resource, ADEAR features current, comprehensive, scientifically backed information on dementia diagnostics, preventions, treatments, and care.

NIA, including its ADEAR staff, also manages the Alzheimers.gov website. Alzheimers.gov provides information on Alzheimer’s and related dementias, a searchable database of clinical trials, and resources from across the federal government.
