ESSENCE on Health Research
More than 40 agencies that fund health research capacity strengthening in low- and middle-income countries participate in the ESSENCE Health Research initiative, which has established the ESSENCE Mechanism for reviewing and coordinating their funding. An open-access editorial in Annals of Global Health, A mechanism for reviewing investments in health research capacity strengthening in low- and middle-income countries , describes the ESSENCE Mechanism, its development and its purpose.
The Essence on Health Research website also offers good practice documents about working in low-resource settings.
