Archive: New Foreign Investigators (GRIP)
Status: Discontinued
Program Overview
The Global Research Initiative Program for New Foreign Investigators (GRIP) has been terminated.
The program promoted productive development of foreign investigators from low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) - defined by World Bank Country Classifications - trained in the U.S. or in their home countries through an eligible NIH funded research or research training grant or award. The initiative provided funding upon return home for foreign biomedical and behavioral scientists, clinical investigators, nurses and other health professionals with state-of-the-art knowledge of research methods to advance critical issues in global health. Upon completion of their research experiences, developing country participants continued to pursue independent and productive careers, including expert training and consultation and research of biomedical issues within their home institutions.
