NIH hosted the ninth annual American Indian and Alaska Native Heritage Month program, co-sponsored by Fogarty, in November on the NIH campus in Bethesda, Maryland. Patricia Nez Henderson, MD, MPH, spoke on Navajo tobacco policy. Dr. Henderson is the Vice President of the Black Hills Center for American Indian Health, a non-profit health organization in Rapid City, South Dakota.
As a part of the celebration, Red Crooked Sky, an American Indian multigenerational dance troupe composed of several tribes, performed traditional dances. Daniel Garneaux, pictured here, performed a grass dance.
