The David E. Barmes Global Health Lecture series honors the late David Edward Barmes, special expert for international health at the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR).
 

 

About Paul Farmer
 

Humanitarian, physician, and global health advocate, Dr. Paul Farmer was a professor at Harvard and chief of global health equity at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He also served as the chief strategist and co-founder of Partners in Health (PIH), a nonprofit that provides care, builds capacity, and strengthens health systems in impoverished communities in Haiti, Peru, Mexico, Rwanda, Lesotho, Malawi, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Navajo Nation, Kazakhstan, and Russia. As co-founder of University of Global Health Equity, Rwanda, Farmer helped prepare students to understand the complexity of delivering care in all settings, including some of the world’s poorest communities.
