Diabetes news, resources and funding for global health researchers
Diabetes, like other chronic, noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) , is on the rise in the developing world. According to the World Health Organization , diabetes prevalence has been rising more rapidly in middle- and low-income countries. Related conditions include cardiovascular disease, kidney failure and adult-onset blindness.
At NIH, the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) leads diabetes research and research training efforts.
