Board of Scientific Counselors, National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities and National Institute of Nursing Research

The National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD) Intramural Research Program conducts social and behavioral health sciences; population and community health sciences; and epidemiology and genetics research in its own offices and laboratories and provides advice to the Institute in carrying out its programs with respect to minority health, health disparities and health equity research. The National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR) Division of Intramural Research conducts research that applies a holistic, contextualized perspective to understand and address factors that will optimize health and advance health equity in its own offices and laboratories and provides advice to the Institute in carrying out its programs with respect to nursing research to solve pressing health challenges and inform practice and policy. In order to secure unbiased and objective evaluation of intramural research programs and of the work of the individual scientist, expert scientists from outside the National Institutes of Health (NIH) are invited to join the Board of Scientific Counselors. This Board of Scientific Counselors will serve both the NIMHD and NINR intramural research programs.
