Benefits of Global Health Research
The Fogarty International Center at the U.S. National Institutes of Health supports and facilitates global health research conducted by U.S. and international investigators. We build partnerships between health research institutions in the U.S. and abroad, and train the next generation of scientists to address global health needs.
Why should the United States government invest in global health? Through global health research, new treatments, preventive strategies and cures may be rapidly identified for many of the diseases that people around the globe share, and for which prevention and treatment could lead to longer, healthier lives.
