NEI AGI Workshop: Replacement of Retinal Ganglion Cells (RGC) by Endogenous Sources

Helping the retina regenerate NEI Audacious Goals Initiative report outlines strategies to replace or reprogram neurons in the retina

Drs. Monica Vetter and Peter Hitchcock presented to the National Advisory Eye Council on June 16, 2016 a summary of results from the AGI Workshop on Replacement of Retinal Ganglion Cells by Endogenous Sources. The workshop was held in Seattle on April 30, 2016. As part of the federal government’s National Institutes of Health (NIH), the National Eye Institute’s mission is to “conduct and support research, training, health information dissemination, and other programs with respect to blinding eye diseases, visual disorders, mechanisms of visual function, preservation of sight, and the special health problems and requirements of the blind.”
