About NCCIH

The National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH) is the Federal Government’s lead agency for scientific research oncomplementary and integrative health approaches. We are 1 of the 27 Institutes, Centers, and Offices that make up theNational Institutes of Health (NIH)within theU.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Themission of NCCIH is to determine, through rigorous scientific investigation, the fundamental science, usefulness, and safety of complementary and integrative health approaches and their roles in improving health and health care.

NCCIH’svision is that scientific evidence informs decision making by the public, health care professionals, and health policymakers regarding the integrated use of complementary health approaches in a whole person health framework.
