The Special Emphasis Panel for Integrative Myocardial Physiology/Pathophysiology Creviews basic and applied/translational applications generally focused on mechanisms which regulate normal and pathologic myocardial function with an emphasis on aspects of cardiac growth and recovery, including dysfunction following aging, disease and/or injury.Topics include cardiovascular tissue repair. Representative methods and experimental strategies may include but not exclusive to electrophysiology, stem cells/bioengineered tissue, model systems, genetics, genomics, proteomics, computational and systems biology.

Topics

• Basic molecular, genetic and cellular mechanisms related to cardiomyocyte /non-cardiomyocyte growth, proliferation, metabolism and apoptosis; receptor signaling; transcriptional pathways; inflammatory/ cytokine-mediated processes.
• Cardiac Tissue repair; stem cells;cell type differentiation and regeneration following injury;metabolic bioenergetics associated with health and dysfunction
• Validation of engineered tissue for support, repair, regeneration of compromised tissue (diseased, injured)
