Training and career development applications can be basic, translationally, or clinically focused in areas related to cellular function, physiology, pathophysiology/disease, regeneration of the musculoskeletal and oral/dental systems, and orthopedics and rehabilitation science.

  • Skeletal muscle biology, physiology, and adaptation, including the molecular and cellular responses to exercise, muscle metabolism, muscle disease, and the effects of physical activity on health.
  • Rehabilitation, biomechanics, and functional recovery of musculoskeletal impairments, including physical therapy, assistive technologies, prostheses, etc.
  • Biology and diseases of the oral cavity, teeth, and salivary glands, including dental caries, periodontal disease, oral cancer, Sjögren’s syndrome, etc.
