Scientific Review Officer

The Gut-Brain, Neuro-Immune, and Multi-Organ Interactions in GI Biology [KUDS (84)] study section reviews grant applications seeking to understand the role of gut–brain, neuro-immune, and gut–multi-organ interactions that regulate gastrointestinal (GI) function, disease mechanisms, and development.Studies may be at any level from cell and molecular to human translational and clinical and employ any model system. Studies may, but are not required to, include microbial components.

Topics

  • Bidirectional GI nervous system-brain communication in GI function, development, and disease.
  • Interactions among neural, immune, epithelial, and stromal components of the digestive system that contribute to GI inflammation and repair.
  • Interactions between the GI tract and other organ systems (e.g., liver, kidney, respiratory, cardiovascular) that influence GI physiology and pathophysiology.
