Scientific Review Officer

The Integrative Approaches in Neurodegeneration Study Section reviews applications that investigate the etiology and pathogenesis of neurodegenerative disorders. Applications include intercellular communication studies on synaptic, neurocircuit, or network level and typically utilize behavioral endpoints in animal models. Studies can implement in vitro, ex-vivo, and/or in vivo experimental approaches but typically do not include human subjects.

Membership Panel

The membership panel is a list of chartered members only.

Topics

  • Alterations in synaptic plasticity, neuronal and network activities in the context of neurodegeneration.
  • Functional and physiological consequences of neurodegenerative states on behavior and cognition
  • Functional and physiological changes in cell metabolism and protein maintenance
  • Generation and characterization of genetically modified or induced animal models of neurodegenerative diseases.
  • Early identification of therapeutic targets through mechanistic studies with physiological and functional endpoints
